Do Not Feed the Pigeons
Sumi Paek, Class of 1993, is proud to announce Do not feed the pigeons, a photography exhibit that recently opened at the Washington Square East Galleries in New York City.
In this exhibit, Sumi chronicles her father’s journey as an immigrant happily bending cultural rules in his adopted country. Her sepia-toned Polaroids are loving testimony to his many unorthodox pastimes, such as feeding the birds when expressly prohibited. Do not feed the pigeons captures qualities of my dad – humor, compassion, and engagement. He talks to anyone who walks by forcing them to take armfuls of produce from his garden. He carries a sack of seeds everywhere he goes – his generosity spans to feeding the pigeons.
