In Case You Missed It …
Written by Brett Lovins ’93

The First Annual Cabaret Night, organized by Upper School Music Teacher Joe Horning, was a resounding success! On the evening of October 26, 2007, alumni, current faculty, and students had the opportunity to test out the acoustics of the new chorus room as they serenaded the packed audience with a wide variety of show tunes. Joe warmed up the crowd with an Irving Berlin number, and Al Rossiter and Rob Leith added a light-hearted Gilbert and Sullivan duet to the mix. The impressive performances of Amy McNabb ’08, Talene Monahon ’09, Chris Richards ’08, Gerrit Thurston ’08, and accompanist Terrence Hsu ‘09 heightened expectations for this year’s winter musical.

Beyond these Upper School participants, Ada Snider of the Lower School and the two private voice teachers Randy McGee and Adriana Repetto also performed, along with alumni Brett Lovins '93, Alex Marcy '06, Rachel Nicholson '07, Vira Slywotsky '00, and Rob Warner '07. Doug loved that we "celebrated both the space and the talent," and Joe noted that "nearly all of the alums' parents came back to hear their grown children sing at BB&N again." As this event quickly becomes an annual tradition, he hopes that more faculty will come to the next cabaret night: "We need wait staff and line cooks!"
